2000 Tours

2000 - Lopez Island: In keeping with doing short, local tours during my 2000 neck recovery, we did a weekend tour on our Rans Screamer tandem to Lopez Island in the San Juan Islands of Washington. We had been to Lopez Island many times over the years, but for this weekend we stayed for the first time at the Edenwild Inn. We've returned frequently to the Edenwild in subsequent years; it's our preferred place to stay on Lopez. Anyway, for this tour we loaded up panniers on the Screamer, rode from the ferry park and ride lot outside Anacortes, and spent the weekend taking scenic rides around the island.

Days riding: 3.

Distance ridden: 78.5 miles.

Elevation gained: 5160'.

2000 - Tulip Festival: We were still riding our recumbent tandem and letting my neck heal. So, we stuck close to home and rode a couple of local tours in 2000, this one out the back door. We rode from our home to LaConner and toured the tulip fields that were on display for the Skagit County Tulip Festival. We've visited this festival often over the years and I must say that it is best seen by bike! Anyway, we toured the fields, stayed over in LaConner, gave rides on the recumbent to interested onlookers at the hotel, and then rode home the next day. Great fun!
