TANDEM  Diversity

We consider a linch stop at mile 51, at Nutty's Junkyard Grill, to be an integral part of the trail experience.

Will we see you out on the trail?

Here is the Centennial Trail website.

Tons of great scenery and interesting things to see, including Highland cattle near Machias.

At the halfway point, the First and Union Bakery in Snohomish is the perfect spot for a bit of a fuel-up before heading back north toward Arlington.

We rode our Co-Motion Carrera Rohloff Co-Pilot tandem, with 650b wheels, an ideal machine for this outing.

Here we are at the start, with the Nakashima Barn in the background.

The Centennial Trail in Snohomish County Washington

The Centennial Trail in Snohomish County Washington is one of our favorite day rides for our tandem. We begin at the northern-most trailhead, the Nakashima Barn, and ride south to the Southern terminus of the trail in Snohomish, Washington. After a quick bakery treat at the First and Union Bakery in Snohomish, we return to the Barn, with a stop at Nutty's Junkyard Grill in Arlington, Washington for lunch. At just over 61 miles, with a little over 1100' of total elevation gain, it is the perfect Spring test of our conditioning, and a great way to spend a day in nature. The entirety of the trail is paved (though some sections are getting fairly significant tree root damage).

In 2026 we rode the trail on Sunday April 19, a day that turned out to be sunny and warm with a slight northerly breeze. Lots of folks were out enjoying the trail but it wasn't crowded by any means.

This remains one of our favorite rides and we try to ride it once or twice a year.
